Do you remember Centerprise?

On the Record is preparing a project to record, explore and celebrate the history of Centerprise; in particular its early days. We plan to document Centerprise’s  publishing project and revisit the poetry, oral history and memoirs that were written by local people and published by the cooperative during the 1970’s and 1980’s. By creating an archive related to Centerprise and interviewing people who were involved we will remember this important place and it’s ground-breaking work.

If you would like to see the project go ahead please contact us. We want to ask you what you think would be the best way to celebrate and remember the history of Centerprise.

Whether you recall Centerprise or not – we want you to take part in the project! We are planning exciting activities and training opportunities including workshops on the history of Centerprise and its projects. We want to share the spirit of Centerprise with new generations.

Ideas include:

* intergenerational workshops using poetry, creative writing, art or theatre to explore the history of Centerprise

* digital storytelling workshops: learning digital media skills to share the history of Centerprise

* independent and group based research (with support if needed)

* oral history and archival skills training to help build the Centerprise archive

If you are interested in any of the above, or have any different ideas you want to let us know about, please contact us. Please be aware that this project has not yet begun. Giving us your opinion will help us to develop this project.
